Sonntag, 30. April 2017  - Engaging in Creative & Active Nonviolence

Looking at our country today, we live at a time where the rhetoric of fear, terror and evil has reached a new level. Those of us who stand in Christian tradition are called to recognize the centrality of active nonviolence to the vision and message of Jesus. It is in this light that the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service would like to invite you to a seminar-workshop on "Engaging in Creative and Active Nonviolence", with Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB) headed by Fr. Pat Falguera, SJ, on APRIL 30, 2017, 1:00 to 4:00pm at INA NG AWA PARISH Multi-Purpose Hall, New Bilibid Prison, Muntinlupa City. A Eucharistic Celebration will be followed after the activity. For confirmation of your attendance, comment your FULLNAME or send to 0977-814-2782. Thank you.

The Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPSFI), is a social-pastoral apostolate of the Society of Jesus in the Philippines based in New Bilibid Prison with a mission to end the culture and cycle of violence using education as a primary social change tool. PJPSFI serves not just children of inmates through education and catechism, their family lives are also greatly enriched because of the various programs and services it offered.
Through our Scholarship Program, we help these families by seeking outside assistance. The incarcerated parent is somehow relieved of the burden of worrying for their family’s future and could focus more on his personal rehabilitation. In addition, it is one way of increasing the possibility of breaking the vicious cycle of violence and criminality.
With the parent behind bars, basic needs become increasingly difficult to meet especially for families with modest means. Given with their situation, medicines, and other bodily needs are not able to meet and thus, most often, worsen the aggravated situation of these families particularly the scholar’s low intellectual stimulation (lack of interest in going to school) due to lack of nutrition and among others.
In our quest of providing better access to health support for the families of our incarcerated brothers and sisters, we would like to invite you to take part in this mission by VOLUNTEERING during our Medical and Dental Mission on 28 May 2017, 9:00AM to 12:00NN at Ina ng Awa Parish Ground, New Bilibid Prison Reservation, Muntinlupa City. We are expecting around 300 to 400 attendees (scholars, parents, volunteers, doctors, and government officials) during this event.
